I grew up in Ruston, Louisiana as a member of Cook Baptist Church. It was there that God really began working in my life, despite my futile attempts to do things my own way. After having the opportunity to be a part of the student leadership team in the youth ministry and serving a youth ministry internship, God “woke me up” to the fact that none of this had anything to do with my personal relationship with Him. On March 30, 1997 I surrendered my heart and life to the Lord Jesus Christ and have been on a wonderful journey of faith! God then confirmed a call to student ministry on my life, and I have enjoyed the greatest job in the world since that day! I have the wonderful privilege of being married to Lacey for 7 incredible years. We have 2 children Karen (age 3) and Gabriel (age 1). Our house is crazy and loud, but we have the most fun on the block! I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice at The University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2000. In 2002, God led Lacey and I to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where I completed a Master of Arts degree in Christian Education. God has blessed me with the experience of serving several churches as Youth Minister, Youth Intern, or as a volunteer in the Youth Ministry. I truly believe that God used each of those experiences to prepare me to serve as the Student Pastor at FBC Oxford. It didn’t take long for me to realize that God has big plans for the teenagers here and is making preparations to use them in mighty ways! Hobbies & Interests: Spending time with my family, hunting, fishing, sports, and weight training. Musical Interests: I enjoy lots of different styles of music and many different artists. Most of the time you’ll find me listening to contemporary Christian music...Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, etc. Lately I’ve been listening a lot to this guy, Kyle Kite! Books that Changed the Way I Think About Things: It’s only been in recent years that I became a “reader” but on my shelves are several books by Max Lucado. Anything related to student ministry is of great interest to me. I am currently reading reThink by Steve Wright. Scripture Focus: Jeremiah 9:24, “but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,”declares the Lord." back to Staff page
