Our Sunday worship services are at 8:30 and 11:00.

Worship at First Baptist

At First Baptist, we believe that worship arises at the intersection between a passionate God and a prepared people.

We believe that the whole issue of "worship style" has become a distraction to true worship, and feeds a "consumer mentality" in the church. So we try to avoid such distinctions.

This is not to say, however, that the two worship services at First Baptist are not different from each other. Because the groups that gather for each service have a unique identity, the services take on that shape. But we are one in Christ, and every service unashamedly lifts Him up that He will draw people to Himself.

We strive for excellence in worship because He is excellent, and we don't want anything to distract attention from Him.

The Apostle Paul instructs us to sing "psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs" to one another (Eph, Col). We are to draw from the Scriptures, the great traditions of the faith, and new expressions of the Spirit in order to have God honoring, mutually edifying worship. At First Baptist, we strive to do this every time we gather.

We have two Sunday worship services.

The 8:30 Service

The worshipers that gather at this time were nurtured on the traditional hymns and music of the faith and find in this an incredibly meaningful way to ascribe worth to the One "who is the same yesterday, today, and forever."

The 11:00 Service

Colossians 3:16 best describes the 11:00 service. In that hour we use scripture songs, traditional hymns, and spiritual songs. It is not our desire to imitate the world's music, but rather to imitate Christ as we seek His kingdom first. Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Our music should be the same: timeless, contemporary and relevant.
